The municipality of Grand-Remous, established in 1937, has decided to highlight its architectural infrastructures, but also the beauty of its landscape. If the village is named Grand-Remous, it is because of the Gatineau River, which vigorously crosses the village and thus creates swirls. This river was once used for wood driving, which was a very dangerous trade that no longer exists. If you walk in the paths along the river, you can learn more about the history of this trade on the panels or in the viewpoints that have been added by the Savoyard bridge. This beautiful bridge was built in 1931 and is 102 metres long.
The Baskatong Reservoir (320 km2) is another interesting feature of Grand-Remous. The size of this lake, as well as the numerous fish that live in it, draw so many visitors! Many outfitters have established along this the banks of this lake, just like Chez Rainville. This outfitter offers more than just fishing. Like many other outdoor enthusiasts, come enjoy the reservoir and the village! Bring your fishing line, kayak and tent for a successful stay!
