Vallée-de-la-Gatineau

A region that developed with the drive of logs

The Vallée-de-la-Gatineau region has developed thanks to the drive of logs, this ancient means of transportation for logs on the rivers. The drivers were seen as successful people, and they were proud of the job they did. Today, the region is synonym of pleasure and nature, and it welcomes families looking for a fun outdoor excursion. Still today, the territory is inhabited by Amerindians, like in the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg reservation, where Algonquins live. You can even visit their interpretation centre to learn more about their way of life. Visit also the parc du Draveur, which pays tribute to the drive workers, and the reservoir Baskatong, where you will find several outfitters, for the joy of fishermen and hunters.
